First of all we have the Star Partners (UnLtd). The project is scheduled to start later this year in October, with the purpose of supporting individuals in Leigh West to ‘Try’ an enterprising idea in their community. With this we hope that people will discover their idea is successful. We can then support them into developing this further and potentially develop it into a Social Enterprise and work towards further funding opportunities.

Another of our upcoming Programmes is the 50+ Enterprise. Programmed to begin later this year, this project is for anyone who is over 50, and are on work related benefit and are looking to possibly start a Social Enterprise or enterprising programme of their own.

In September/October we will be beginning our NEET Project for a second time. This Project is a confidence building programme, where young 16-18 year old people can learn helpful skills and do activities tailored to their needs.

Joining Communities will be starting a range of Creative Crafts and IT projects in the near future to support the Wigan Council’s, Information Advice Learning & Skills Service (IALSS). These will run across the three terms of the academic year beginning in September. The course consists of a suite of short learning activities that will be based out in the community, mostly in identified sheltered accommodation, care homes and community centres. The activities will be arts and crafts based, while also being underpinned with IT techniques and skills as a way of teaching people how they can get online and access government services and more.

We plan to have started the New Enterprise Club by November too, similar to the current Work Club, you can access this club once a week and gain the help and support of our staff, to start your own entrepreneurial idea.

In September we will be changing the format of the Work Club we currently run. We want to create a more structured plan, in the morning sessions we will be working with new clients to register, and go through their assessments and online registrations. In the afternoon we will have planned sessions in which a tutor will be delivering a subject specific discussion. Subject will include, CV writing, Online Applications, Interview Skills, Telephone Skills and Telephone Interviews, amongst other things.

Finally we have the BME Work Club, which will now be taking place weekly on Mondays between 9:30 am – 1:00 pm. The BME Work Club is a planned session which is delivered by a tutor and is subject specific i.e. CV writing, Application form filling, Work related skills  like Health & Safety at Work, Risk Assessment and interview skills.
